What is a research degree?

Research degrees are academically intensive postgraduate programmes that require you to carry out in-depth study of your chosen topic for a sustained period of time. Unlike undergraduate or most postgraduate taught programmes, the majority of our research degrees don’t require you to attend formal lectures or seminars. Think of your research degree as a more advanced version of producing an undergraduate dissertation.

By the end of your degree, you will have gained high level skills in research and produced a body of original work that contributes to wider literature about your subject area.
